The Government of Karnataka has announced a revision in minimum wages, effective from April 1, 2025. This update aims to ensure fair compensation for workers across various industries while addressing rising living costs. The revised wages apply to different skill categories and geographical zones within the state.
The minimum wages have been increased across all sectors. Workers will now receive higher basic wages along with a Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) to compensate for inflation.Workers are classified into four categories based on their skills i.e. Unskilled, Semi-skilled, Skilled and Highly skilled
Compliance and Employer Responsibilities
Employers must:
Ensure all employees receive at least the minimum prescribed wage.
Maintain accurate payroll records to reflect the revised wages.
Implement timely salary revisions to comply with the new wage structure.
Failure to comply can lead to penalties under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948.
